VICE Sports featured a story about him with the headline, “Myles Jones is the Future of Lacrosse.”
Jones wrote a story for The Players Tribune titled, “The Face of the Game.”
It’s clear that Myles Jones is on another level as an ambassador of his sport.
The first overall pick in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse Draft and Walt Whitman High School alum is truly one of the faces of lacrosse. From the U.S. Team, which he should be playing for at the World Championships this summer, to winning a National Championship at Duke, to his dominant play in the MLL, Jones is a star.
At Duke, he anchored the midfield for four years and put up more than 60 points in three of his four seasons with the Blue Devils. He also won the Lt. Donald MacLaughlin Jr. Award and was a Tewaaraton Finalist in 2015 and 2016.

Good luck to all student-athletes, coaches and programs as they embark on their playoff journey in hopes of capturing glory!
Each week Section XI will announce a male and female athlete of the week. Nominees are submitted by school district athletic directors.
The athletes of the week this week are:
Female Athlete of the Week: Samantha Schultz, Kings Park
Kings Park has a 19-2 overall record as of February 17, and Sam Schultz has a lot to do with that. During one stretch of the season, she was averaging 27.6 points and 13 rebounds per game and those numbers held up pretty much the entire season. She is one of the top players on Long Island and should be a dominant force as the playoffs progress.
Male Athlete of the Week: Ahkee Anderson, Greenport
For the second year running, Ahkee Anderson is one of the top boys basketball players in Suffolk County. He ranks in the top 10 in the county in scoring with a points per game average of 22.5. In a first round playoff victory for the Porters, Anderson had 17 points and nine assists.

All info will be posted to our Twitter feed @SectXISuffolk, and the brackets on SectionXI.org will be updated quickly as well.
Good luck to all student-athletes competing!
The 2018 Winter Olympics are here and we have three main reasons to watch: John Daly, Matt Mortensen, and Justin Krewson.
Daly, a Smithtown native, is the Olympic veteran of the bunch. Competing in his third Games, he is hoping to best his 15th place finish in the skeleton event at Sochi in 2014.
Mortensen, from Huntington Station, competes in luge doubles, and is making his second appearance after placing 14th at Sochi.
Eastport’s Justin Krewson will make his Olympic debut in the luge.
Twelve bowlers from Section XI have earned all-star bids to compete in the New York State tournament on March 10-11 upstate.
