Section XI Championship Info: Weekend of Nov. 10-12

You may have been referring to our overall championship page for all upcoming key Section XI and NYSPHSAA events, but we broke out the games/matches for Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 to make it easier since there is a ton of action going on across the county and state!

Here’s a look at what you can expect this weekend:

Cross Country

  • 11/11 – NYSPHSAA Championship, Wayne Central School

Field Hockey: NYSPHSAA Championship, Maine-Endwell  (Sec IV)

  • 11/11 – Semi-Final, Class A: Ward Melville vs. Baldwinsville, 9:30 am
  • (NEW!) 11/12 – Finals, Class A: Ward Melville vs Maine-Endwell, 12 pm

Football

  • Still in Division I, II, III and IV semifinals, so there are 16 teams left to play on Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11

Boys Soccer: NYSPHSAA Championship, Middletown HS (Sec IX)

  • 11/11 – Semi Finals: AA: HH Hills West vs. Shenendehowa, 11:15 am; B: Center Moriches vs. Westhill, 12:30 pm, Twin Tower Field; C: Pierson/BH vs. Lansing, 4 pm, Middleton HS
  • (NEW!)11/12- Finals: AA: HH Hills West vs. McQuaid Jesuit, 12:30 pm; B: Center Moriches vs. Ichabod Crane, 10 am

Ward Melville Field Hockey Wins Long Island Championship

Ward Melville defeated Massapequa, 6-0, in the Class A Long Island field hockey championship on Wednesday afternoon.

From Newsday … 

Kate Mulham and Lexi Reinhardt each scored two goals to lead undefeated Ward Melville to a 6-0 victory over Massapequa on Wednesday for its third straight Long Island Class A field hockey championship.

“It’s obviously an amazing feeling knowing that all our hard work all season starting in August has now paid off in the postseason,” Mulham said. “We’re all excited to continue playing because we play every game for the person next to us and we’re just really glad to keep our season alive.”

It’s that time of year where Suffolk County schools are taking to their own halls of fame to induct legendary coaches and athletes from their communities.
