Miller Place is making its first trip to the Long Island championships in school history, while Seaford has been a consistent contender in the modern era.
The game will take place on Friday, November 24 at Noon at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium.
Things you should know:
- This marks the first-time Miller Place has played in a Long Island championship game since the inception of the current structure in 1992.
- Miller Place’s only loss of the season was during Week 4 against Babylon, while Seaford dropped two games this year to Cold Spring Harbor and Locust Valley, both of whom they beat in the Nassau playoffs.
- From Miller Place look out for half back Anthony Filippetti, receiver Tom Neals, quarterback Anthony Seymour and running back Tyler Ammirato.
- From Seaford look out for Ryan Butler, Sean Allen, Logan Masters, and Joe Angelastro, among others.
- The Vikings had an incredible defensive showing the last two weeks. Butler had two tackles, a fumble recovery, an interception and a pass break-up for Seaford against Cold Spring Harbor last week and the team only allowed 116 yards and eight first downs.
- Seaford played in an LIC as recently as last season, losing, 20-10, to Shoreham-Wading River. They last won the big game in 2009, a 34-20 victory over Amityville.
- Seaford has outscored its opponents 76-14 in the playoffs, and have picked up shutouts in the Nassau Conference IV semifinals and finals leading to the match-up against Miller Place.
