Girls Cross Country
Congratulations to Northport varsity girls cross-country on capturing the Section XI Class A Championship for the fourth consecutive year,
The Tigers will represent Section XI at the NYS Class A Championships next weekend at Queensbury HS.
Two talented runners from Section XI were in Oregon at the Nike Cross Country Nationals last week.
Bayport-Blue Point’s Sophia McInnes placed 42 out of 204 runners with a time of 18:32.
Bay Shore’s Jake Gogarty placed 123 out of 201 runners with a time of 16:38.
Great work, Sophia and Jake, and thanks for making Section XI and your respective school communities proud!

Longtime Bay Shore cross-country coach Steve Borbet was named New York State XC Coach of the Year and NFHS Region 1 Girls XC Coach of the Year for the 2018-19 season.
The news was announced recently.

It’s still awhile until the NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championships, but we’re still excited. The event will take place at Sunken Meadow and Section XI is the host region.
