A message from Section XI Executive Director Tom Combs …
We did it. Three sports seasons completed in less than six months. It was a major effort that we will never forget and we are grateful for all coaches, administrators, parents, officials, secretaries, health workers, government officials, community supporters and MOSTLY our student-athletes, for cooperating and collaborating to make it happen.
We went from games with no fans, to events where fans wore masks, to eventually matches with full attendance ending with Spring Long Island Championships. It was a steady progression as the year evolved.
As we just finished up the final spring sport events last week, we took some time to reflect and are so appreciative of what we endured and what we learned together. We are also mindful of the people we lost from this virus and the lasting impact it will have on their families and friends; they will be in our thoughts and prayers forever.
We believe Section XI was a leader in New York during the pandemic. Together, we developed a plan with structure and worked towards successful outcomes during each season.
As we head into the summer, we wish you a happy and healthy couple of months. We also are already excited for the start of full fall season on August 23.
It has been an incredible month of June with county, Long Island, both individual and team, championships.
We’re proud of all student-athletes, coaches, support staff, health staff, admins, parents and programs for their efforts in battling these unique circumstances all year long.
We salute you on everything you have achieved on and off the field/court and wish you the best!
Congratulations to Commack High School on winning the Section XI boys tennis team championships!
Outstanding job by semifinalists Ward Melville.
Commack will play in the Long Island championship on June 18 at 4 p.m. in Eisenhower Park.

As the NYSPHSAA has amended its rules, spectators will be permitted at ALL Section XI contests.
