Brentwood Soccer Invited to NYS Capital

The four Brentwood boys soccer captains of the No. 1 public team in the nation and the 2019 NYS Class AA champions were invited by New York State Sen. Monica Martinez to the capital.

In Albany they were given a tour of the Senate and a resolution was read on behalf of the team accomplishments this past season.

“What an incredible day spent with our captains, coaches Iglesias and Farfan, dads and Mr. Callan,” said Kevin O’Reilly, Brentwood’s Athletic Director.

Both Northport Boys and Girls Hoops to Compete for County Titles

Uniquely, the Northport boys and girls basketball are both playing in Suffolk County championship games this week.

The girls, seeded No. 1, will play Saturday at 7:30 p.m. versus No. 2 Longwood at St. Joe’s.

The boys, seeded No. 2, will play Friday at at 8:30 p.m. versus No. 1 Brentwood at Farmingdale State.

“We are very blessed with committed and talented coaches along with an incredible wealth of driving student-athletes,” said Northport athletic director Mark Dantuono.

Panariello Earns Wrestling Hall of Fame Lifetime Service Honor

Former Section XI wrestling chairman (07-15) Bob Panariello has been announced as an inductee of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Downstate New York inductee for his lifetime service.

He will be honored with a handful of others during a ceremony on May 22.

Panariello, currently the athletic director at his alma mater, Bay Shore, also serves on the New York State Wrestling Committee.
