A number of athletic directors from Suffolk County attended the Brain Injury Awareness Celebrity Sports Forum at the Fox Hollow CC on Wednesday. Head injury prevention is paramount for our student-athletes.

Amityville Hosts Girl and Women in Sports Day
Amityville’s athletic department put together its first Girls and Women in Sports Day event and it was a major success.
Close to 100 female student-athletes from the district joined together for this inaugural event which allowed for outpouring of love and appreciation for their coaches, programs and athletes.
Great job, Amityville!
Shoreham-Wading River to Host Lax Out Cancer Event
The Shoreham Wading River Lacrosse programs will be hosting it’s 12th annual “Lax Out Cancer,” at Shoreham Wading River High School located at 250 NY-25A, Shoreham, NY 11786.
“Lax Out Cancer” is our annual High School Lacrosse fundraising game which recognizes local children who are battling cancer and raises money to help them fight. “Lax Out Cancer” began in 2008 when the Shoreham Wading River lacrosse community raised money for a family of a local child battling cancer.
This fundraiser has become an annual event. It has attracted more attention, volunteers, and contributors. Last year’s Lax out Cancer event raised over $50,000 and helped four families with children whose lives have been devastated by this terrible disease.

DeCillis Inducted to NYSAAA Hall of Fame
Congrats to our very own Nick DeCillis on being inducted to the NYS Athletic Administrator Association Hall of Fame!
Kupchak, Everson Honor Brentwood’s Harris
Not only did Brentwood’s Bryce Harris reach the 1,000 point plateau for his career recently, but he was honored by Indian alums Mitch Kupchak and Chuck Everson too.
Kupchak had a successful playing career in the NBA and is currently the General Manager of the Charlotte Hornets. Everson was a member of the 1985 NCAA Champion Villanova Wildcats.

Davis, Santoro Honored by NYSPHSAA
Harborfields tennis coach Bob Davis, and Connetquot wrestling coach Bill Santoro received recognition from the NYSPHSAA this week.
Already announced months ago, these honors were formally bestowed upon the coaches during a Section XI Executive meeting.
Davis, photographed above, was named NYSPHSAA and National Northeast Tennis Coach of the Year.
Santoro was named NYSPHSAA Wrestling Coach of the Year, but was unable to attend, so Connetquot Athletic Director, Mark Dellecave, accepted on his behalf.
Community Event Notice
East Islip Girls and Boys Bowling Take 2nd in NYS
Great season for both the boys and girls bowling teams at East Islip who both took second place at the NYSPHSAA championships, respectively.
The Section XI girls all-star team took second in the state, while the Section XI boys all-star composite team took third.
