Westhampton Beach Volleyball Wins Holiday Sports Heroes Video Challenge

Congratulations to the Westhampton Beach girls’ volleyball program for winning the Long Island Holiday Sports Heroes Video Challenge for winter 2022 through Team Up 4 Community.

They teamed up with the school’s childhood cancer awareness club and created the “Digging for Gold” event to raise funds and awareness.

They have raised over $13,800 and are currently raising funds for a fellow Hurricane student.

While Lynbrook finished second in the holiday service contest, Section XI’s Bay Shore came in third.

Their Athletes Helping Athletes club is always ready to help their community when needed. They work with seventh and eighth-grade students by visiting the school to discuss important topics such as drugs, alcohol, cyberbullying, social media, and vaping.

This Holiday Challenge recorded 17,197 athletes performing over 36,494 hours of community service! This is valued at an economic impact of $381,580 given back to our communities! Learn more about Team Up 4 Community here

Northport’s McKenna Sisters Named All-American

Congratulations to Northport’s Olivia and Natalie McKenna on being selected field hockey All-Americans by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

Olivia, a midfielder, was named second team and Natalie, a goalie, was named third team.

The NFHCA serves as the recognized leader in naming All-American field hockey student-athletes.  The All-American teams are made up of student-athletes that represent the highest level of field hockey players concerning the nominating criteria.  NFHCA member coaches have the opportunity to nominate their student-athletes each fall.  Over 170 student-athletes at the high school and collegiate levels are recognized annually for this prestigious honor.
