This year the National Football Foundation celebrated 38 scholar athletes and renamed its Suffolk County chapter.
Now known as the James C. Metzger Chapter after Half Hollow Hills star athlete turned business leader, the chapter honored its scholar athletes and Golden Eleven at an event at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge.
Westhampton Beach’s Chris Dileo won the first James C. Metzger Award presented to the top scholar-athlete in the county.
Dielo is an AP Scholar with Distinction, and member of the Science Honor Society, World Language Honor Society and Math Honor Society. He was first team all-division and all-county on the gridiron.
