They’re back! For the first time since 2003, Amityville boys basketball has won a New York State title. This marks the fifth one in school history.
The Warriors were led by tournament MVP, Josh Serrano, who had 29 points, six steals and five assists in the 74-54 victory against Ardsley at Floyd L. Maines Arena in Binghamton, N.Y.
Amityville is now 27-1 this season and will take its 19-game winning streak to the state Federation Tournament of Champions at Glens Falls next weekend against Park, the state CHSAA champion.
“It feels crazy. It’s my senior year and my last chance to win a championship. I wanted it badly,” Serrano told Newsday after the game. “This was a special game.”
